This project is deeply rooted in William Warfield’s legacy. The site—beside School #9—honors his connection to the community, as it was his alma mater and is just steps away from William Warfield Way and his home church, Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church.
By placing this resource near William Warfield’s former school, the project will connect his remarkable legacy to a new generation of Rochester youth and provide an accessible space where music can be explored, experienced, and shared by people of all ages and abilities.
A new chapter is being written for Rochester—and it will be filled with music.

- Interpretive signage celebrating William Warfield and his legacy
- Flexible performance and gathering areas for the concerts, music classes, and community celebrations
- The Musicscape represents more than a physical improvement to a neighborhood site. It is a long-term investment in music education, youth development, accessibility, cultural heritage, and community connection.
