We sadly announce that Jessye Norman passed away on Sept. 30, 2019.
Ms. Norman was among the reigning sopranos worldwide for almost four decades since her career began in the early 1960’s, including at the Metropolitan Opera, where she made her debut in 1983. The William Warfield Scholarship Fund extends heartfelt condolences to the Norman family in Rochester and Ms. Norman’s many friends and colleagues.
